Sunday Music (With A Twist) And A Dance With Dragons

Yes, it’s a little late, but here’s your song to celebrate the release of A Dance with Dragons!
It’s “Twin Dragons” from the soundtrack to the Scott Pilgrim game, and it’s by Anamanaguchi. They’re a fantastic group, and this is one of the few songs I have that has the word “dragon” in the title.
Now do you want to know the most terrible thing about writing? It took GRRM about 5 years to write A Dance With Dragons, and it took me about 3 days to read it. That is a, shall we say, unequal distribution? You can work forever on something that’s super important to you, and in the end, it will still only take that long to read it.
I’m not going to give a review, but in a later post (possibly) tonight, I’m going to write about the book. That’s for several reasons. I’ve been told that as a new writer, it’s a good idea not to piss off people who are established writers. I am pro-not-pissing-people-off-who-might-be-hiring-me-or-criticizing-me-later, but some things about this book didn’t gel. It was fantastic. It was amazing. At least 8.5/10 if you want a silly arbitrary number.
But some things, as I read them, made me go “Hmm.” And not the good “Hmm”, as in, “Hmm, are those chocolate-chip cookies with oreos baked inside them?” Instead, it’s the “Hmm” that you get when you’re in a job interview and honestly answer the “What are your weaknesses” question.
It makes me think, especially when the book is simultaneously so amazing. But that is for later. For now? DRAGONS.
